Resolved Question: Can a 1965-1975 car be turned into a commuter?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 17 April, 2010, 8:26 pm

I’m trying to buy my first car and everyone keeps telling me that I should get a Honda or something, but I hate new age cars. I really want a car between the years 1965-75 and it’s something that I could keep for life instead of getting rid of it in like 4 years. My plan was to purchase a Buick LeSabre 72 and tune up the engine etc to make it my car. To give you guys an idea of how serious I am I plan on using all my pay checks from my part time job to make this dream a reality – I’m 18 and a freshman in college. I really want guys who have restored cars and have that experience to help me out here. I’m in NYC and I know I’m pretty strange for doing this, but everyone is different. Will cars in this time period only be able to run like a couple times a week then have to get taken in for constant repairs costing 1k+ each time? I also heard that cars of this time period are extremely easier to repair in comparison to modern cars because there’s no computer is this a fact?
You guys have no idea how much I appreciate this, all this information is much needed to get this going. It’s interesting when someone stated that the Chevy or Potiac would be easier. I mean I’m open for idea, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get the epiphany to get the car after watching my favorite show Supernatural in the show they drive a 67 Impala and the Buick LeSabre looks really similar to it, at an extremly lower price. I will get a car in this era especially because it is ultimately an investment. If you guys could throw in the typical prices to fix up the car it would be great I would probably buy the parts on eBay then pay a mechanic to install them.

Resolved Question: I don’t know what kind of career I want to have when I’m older?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 4 September, 2009, 3:14 pm

I’m a freshman girl in high school. All my friends seem to have some kind of idea of what they want to do, and they’re all preparing for college and stuff already, while I have no clue on what career I want to have or where I want to go to college. What I do know, is I want to go to college in either Long Island or NYC. Or anywhere near NY. I have an interest in technology and such. But I’m not interested in being like a computer repair person or anything like that. I’m also interested in fashion and modeling. And I’m a little interested in working in a school. I don’t want to have a career as a lawyer, a doctor, or a vet. And I want to make okay/good money when I become an adult. Any ideas for what kind of career I should have/what colleges I should think about going to? Btw, don’t list NYIT as a college. I don’t want to go there. Thanks.

Voting Question: What do I need to start an internet business in NYC?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 28 April, 2009, 5:46 am

I’m looking to start an internet business in NY and I already found out what I need to do federally (EIN/Tax ID) but what do I need to do state wise to be recognized as a business and pay the proper taxes? I was looking on the NY gov website but its rather confusing to me and I havent had time to go down to an office to meet with anyone to explain.

Im also unsure if I should file the business as a sole proprietor or LLC. It will only be me running it for now but I was told I should file as an LLC in case anything should happen my personal assets would be touched just those of the business.

The business will be a complete gaming website as well local computer repair. I will be building PC’s as well as selling hardware and software. The business will be run out of my office from home.

Resolved Question: What should I do about my water damaged MacBook?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 20 March, 2009, 11:00 am

Making a long story short: my cat knocked about a cup of water on my closed MacBook. Unfortunately, the water ran down the side where the ports are (left side). It was on, but connected to the power cord and in sleep mode.
Now it wont power on. The side with the ports smell like something burned.
I have done a bit of homework and I have heard various answers. Some say: it’s gone, destroyed. buy a new computer.
Some say it caused a part to short, and the part is fried, but it can be repaired, albeit, not cheaply.
Others say it can be repaired but it is not worth it.

I have heard that Apple charges $300 for a diagnostic fee, even if they come back and tell you it’s dead. I could put that money towards a new computer, and sell the old one for parts.

The other thing is, I have a 200 GB harddrive, with all my photos, music, movies. At the very least, I want to be able to retrieve the data on the harddrive.

Now I live in NYC and have a choice of 3 Apple stores, as well as a TekServe.
Tek Serve is good, they are an authorized Apple repair facility. They also are a bit less “by the book” than Apple (as in, might be able to replace the fried part with a gently used one etc)

Also the computer is 2.5 years old (purchased in Aug. 2006). Would it be more worth it to buy a new computer, and pay the cost of salvaging the info on the harddrive?

Or is it worth my while to try to get it repaired at Tek Serve?

Oh… and where can a get a nice burlap sack to take my cat to the nearest river.. (Just kidding. I have already forgiven him)

Resolved Question: Opinions on opening up my own music school , please advise?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 4 February, 2009, 4:41 pm

Im 32, BA in Elementary Education, minor in music. Parttime NYC school teacher. PLaying piano since age 5. Produced for some hop hop celebrities in the early 2000’s.
I live with parents and dont have much money , obviously. lol
Now i want to open up a music school and teach kids piano . I want to teach kids music productions. Have a nice studio in the garagee to teach piano and more. I was thinking of teaching Handicapped and retarded students also. IF i do get married and have kids one day in the future i would like to put the studio in a garage and live next door. I would put a shingle sign on the lawn, just a small one saying ” Music conservatory”.
My questions are.
1. Do you think i can support my wife and kids doing this if i do have them in the future.

2. Would this be good even thought the economy is bad and people are loosing jobs. Will they have money for lessons. I though because most public schools are shutting down music programs so there WOULD be a need for piano lessons more now then ever and they would come to me.

3. How much should i charge. And how long should the lesson be.

4. Why is my female friend telling me that this is a bad idea and making fun of me that i am a dreamer and this is not a real job and i will be broke.

5 .Should i get a Masters degree in music? what field of music? Seems like you cant do that much with it lol no offense

PLease share your knowledge and answer all and give me all the advise possible

thanks

Resolved Question: What Does The Average NYC person think about Jet Fuel & Demo explosives were used on 9/11?

By Yahoo! Answers: Search for at 24 December, 2008, 1:32 pm

I worked there as a visiting Telephone repairman from Chicago with Honeywell Communications and had keys to every floor and every electric closet for a few months after the Truck Bombing..(We were threre to repair all the damage to the telephone & data wiring and switches that were destroyed on many many floors) I was noticing the perps were in the NY Times front page as having already been locked up down the street in the NYC Fed Jail at the time

I have worked on Telephones,Computers & Networks my whole career…Just an old Sailor here..but many friends from The Marine Corps & Army tell me telephone wiring can be used to detonate…

hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..
16 thousand degrees is HOT

BUT I AINT BUYING “The Pancake Theory” SORRY lol

SInce I had such Un Fettered access to the WTC electrical closets for months …with no questions asked..is it possible “someone like a Terrorist” could have slowly wired the place up quietly for months using the Telecom/Electrical Riser wiring??????????????????????

Being a typical SouthSide Irish kid from Chicago= if Jet flew into The Sears Tower & it “melted/fell down” within an hour VS BURN FOR 3 DAYS THEN MELT & FALL DOWN=WE HERE IN CHICAGO WOULD BE GOING FLIPPO -OUTTO AND NOT EXACTLY “BUYING” THE BURNING JET FUEL THEORY(JET FUEL THAT NEEDED CONSTANT OXYGEN SUPPLY TO STAY EXTREME HOT ALL DAY LONG TO MELT SAY 2 TWIN TOWERS ?)

ex Navy,Motorola,Honeywell,Mountan Bell,Illinois Bell, installer, repairman, and engineer with an Inquiring Mind is DYING TO KNOW WHAT & WHO THE AVERAGE NEW YORKER BELIEVES ABOUT WHOM & WHAT HAPPENED ON 911

With My Deepest Sympathy & Respect to All of you in The City Of New York who Lost Loved Ones from WHO & WHATEVER EVIL COWARDS CAUSED OUR NATIONAL GREIF ON THAT EVIL DAY
