I'm looking to start an internet business in NY and I already found out what I need to do federally (EIN/Tax ID) but what do I need to do state wise to be recognized as a business and pay the proper taxes? I was looking on the NY gov website but its rather confusing to me and I havent had time to go down to an office to meet with anyone to explain.
Im also unsure if I should file the business as a sole proprietor or LLC. It will only be me running it for now but I was told I should file as an LLC in case anything should happen my personal assets would be touched just those of the business.
The business will be a complete gaming website as well local computer repair. I will be building PC's as well as selling hardware and software. The business will be run out of my office from home.
